MORE ABOUT THE PATAGONIA
DISTRICT AND USHUAIA CITY |
Patagonia is the most popular region to visit within
Argentina among adventurous travelers. Patagonia
is the southernmost region of Argentina, formed
by the provinces of La Pampa, Neuquen, Rio Negro,
Chubut, Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego. It is
an enormous region stretching south of the River
Rio Colorado, just beyond the province of Buenos
Aires, all the way to the Strait of Magellan.
Beyond the strait, Argentina and Chile share the
archipelago of Tierra de Fuego. The two most popular
places to visit are El Calafate and its mountains
& glaciers, and the world’s southernmost
located city Ushuaia.
Ushuaia
is the town & the capital of the province
of “Tierra del Fuego”, which is
located on the rugged shores of the Beagle Channel,
surrounded by mountains, and is considered the
southernmost city in the world. Today there
are living approx 42.000 inhabitants, about
3.580km from Buenos Aires City (3h20 by air).
Ushuaia is the gateway to Antarctica, the starting
point for the many ice-breakers and cruise ships
sailing to the white continent every summer.
And from Ushuaia a small train takes you to
the gate of the, Tierra del Fuego National Park,
which protects a wide variety of flora and fauna
species as red foxes, guanacos, beavers, condors
and ducks. The coast and the islands in the
Beagle Channel are the habitat of sea wolves,
Magellan penguins and cormorants among many
other species. The Lakes of Fagnano and Escondido
are other points of interests, well worth a
visit to enjoy spectacular views. Besides to
enjoy the untouched & abundant nature, it
is also possible to practice Trekking, Birdwatching,
Fishing, Mountain Biking, Horse Riding, Skiing,
play golf and make tour by boat in Ushuaia &
its surroundings. We recommend 3 nights stay,
to able you to visit the regions main attractions
during two full days.
