MALOCAS JUNGLE LODGE
|
Malocas
Jungle Lodge is located northeast of Manaus. The
transfer from Manaus is done in two parts; first
you go on an asphalted road (BR-010) about 80km
(1h.), to the town of Rio Preto da Eva. The second
part you go by a motorized canoe, during 1,5hour
through the jungle. The boat transfer is done on
the river of Rio Preto da Eva. The river’s
wideness varies between 10m to 1,5m and sometimes
you have to bend your head for trees crossing the
route. The transfer itself is a part of the jungle
adventure. «Malocas» means “indigenous
dwellings” which traditionally housed one
or more families divided into different sectors
and this is what Malocas is about today. There are
12 double accommodations with private bathrooms
and one “honeymoon bungalow”. Further
there are, besides a reception, one bar and one
restaurant. Note: There is no electricity; all places
are lighted by candles and/or torches. It is very
charming to sit around the campfire at night and
enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the Amazon Jungle.
