| Canoa
Quebrada is not just another beach, it became a legend
during the 70’s when the beach was discovered by the
hippies. It was considered (in Brazil and abroad)
as one of the most gorgeous places in the world. The
site is located 156km southeast of Fortaleza and has
coconut trees, creeks, high dunes of fine white sand,
lagoons amid the dunes in certain periods of the year,
reefs on the beach and a large row of reddish cliffs
which became a symbol of the place. In 1981, the Brazilian
composer Caetano Veloso recorded a song called “Lua
e Estrela” (moon and star), a great hit among
alternative youths of that time (70’s). Soon afterwards,
inspired by this song, someone carved a moon and a
star in the cliffs – the symbol was created. In Canoa
Quebrada you can nowadays find several options of
accommodations and restaurants in the picturesque
village. |
