Visit Alcântara, on the other side of the bay of São Marcos in São Luis, a trip in the past. There is a small "ghost town" with 10 streets and 8 cross streets, three squares, and about 300 buildings. You will understand how it was during the colonial time in Brazil – Two floor houses, churches and sugar production are the main attractions.

Our tour starts 09:30 in Sao Luis and takes the whole day. To the island of Alcantra we go first by boat (50min) and then the round tour starts. We visit the Church of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, Chapel of Merces, Ladeira do Jacaré, Pelourinho (where slaves where hit and judged), the ruins of Church da Matriz, Cavalo de Tróia, Passo da Quaresma, Chapel Nossa Senhora do Desterro and the ruin of Barão Palace.
