Chapada
dos Guimarães is located only 67km from Cuiabá
city, known for its historical treasuries and anthropology.
The region’s natural formations cause interests
among scientists that study the preserved marine
fossils and places of archeological interests with
pre-historic paintings.
There
is neither lack of natural beauties: waterfalls,
caves & caverns, hills & rocks surrounded
of canyons with 350m highness. The most famous waterfall
is Veil of the Bride, with a fall of 86m. Another
attraction in the park is the highest point, the
hill of São Jerômino, considered to
be the most mystic place in Brazil. The cavern of
Aero Jari hides beautiful waterfalls and the blue
lake, Lagoa Azul, with its crystal clear water.
No lack of water in the park, a network of drainage
of several important rivers. The riverbanks are
surrounded by rich vegetation that hides a rich
wildlife, like deers, wolfs, and many kinds of birds.
The
town of Chapada dos Guimarães is situated
10km from the nature reserve, which has its attractions
as well. There is lots of preserved architecture
from the colonial time, from the 17th and 18th century.
It is worth a visit to the church of Nossa Senhora
Santana do Sacramento, since 1779. It was constructed
by slaves and its altar is totally covered by gold.
The town’s infrastructure provides with all
necessaries among the visitors.
