Travel "Do's & Don´ts"
 

Do:
# Deal only with authorized agent when buying tickets, arranging hotels, tours, etc

# Try to obtain a small amount of local cash before leaving on your trip.

# Keep track of current news in the area you are visiting.

# Carry valuables in several places on your person, in handbags and in hard-sided, locket luggage.

# Keep your hotel door locket and chained. Read emergency escape information and check emergency exits.

# Know the local emergency numbers, how to use the phone, and how to ask for help in the local language.

# Park your rental car in monitored and secure parking lots.

# Let someone know your travel plans, and leave a number where you can be reached.

# Keep a low profile and behave conservatively. Be polite and low-key.

# Be aware of your environment. Watch out for potential troublemakers who may single you out.

# Know the PIN numbers to your credit cards and ATM cards.

# If possessions are stolen, if you are assaulted in any way, or if you expect that you are being followed or watched, report I immediately to your police, guards or hotel staff.


Don’t:
# Leave luggage, camera equipments, etc unattended in public areas or visible in your car.

# Invite unknown people into your hotel room or give them your room number. Meet others in the hotel lobby.

# Resist any robbery attempt. Cooperate fully with all demands, and give robbers what they request.

# Talk to street kids or other son the street who you do not know.

# Carry or wear expensive or expensive-looking jewelry, handbags, cameras, walkman radios, etc.

# Walk down alleyways or through quiet, abandoned areas.

# Flash large amounts of cash when purchasing items.

# Buy items from street vendors or deal unnecessarily with pedestrians.
