| It
might exist an international classification or rating
of hotels´ standard, but in the reality each
country practice a differentiated classification.
In Brazil the hotel standards vary quite a lot, but
Packtours has made a selection of hotels and defined
its classification in five categories:
TOURIST category for simple needs
Most hotels (guest houses) in this category
are housed in residences or small buildings, have
few facilities / equipments, and absent or very light
infrastructure for leisure. In our selection, all
hotels have rooms with private bathroom (if nothing
else is mentioned), serve breakfast and have at least
one common telephone.
COMFORT category for moderate needs

The hotels in this category have better finishing
and the service is more attentive. There might be
several kinds of accommodations which in general are
good equipped. The rooms are supposed to have telephone,
AC, minibar, safety-box and TV.
SUPERIOR
category for greater needs
The hotels in this category are generally well planned
and there are no signs of improvisation. The rooms´
decoration and furnishing are standardized. These
hotels are supposed to have in-house restaurant, 24-hours
room service, bell boy, concierge service and bilingual
staff at the front desk.
FIRST
CLASS category for high demands
The hotels in this category are very well planned
with a great infrastructure for leisure or business.
The guest rooms are standardized and very well equipped.
These hotels are supposed to have accessories in the
rooms (hair dryer, bathrobe, soaps, international
TV channels, etc) and several value added services
like a convenience store, laundry service, business
center and service for leisure.
DELUXE
category for the highest demands
This is the most sophisticated hotel category with
the best services. The finishing of all environments
is of excellent quality. There are few hotels in this
category in Brazil, only some hotels in Rio de Janeiro
and in Sao Paulo, and also some resorts that may fulfill
the requirements.
ROOM
CATEGORIES:
Most hotels have more than one type of room. In general
the hotels define the rooms in: Standard rooms (the
most simple category), Superior rooms, and Deluxe
rooms. Some hotels may also have options of Suites.
The differences between the room types are normally
the room’s size, decoration, equipment and the
view. In the initial proposal that Packtours normally
send to the requester, refers to an accommodation
in each hotel’s simplest room (standard room).
Standard rooms may have a simple decoration and view
of a backyard or some forest. To make clear that the
hotel’s room fulfill your expectation, please
consult Packtours, you may choose a room with higher
standard, i.e. with view of the swimming pool area
or the sea. NOTE: Divergences of this classification
might be found, see each hotel’s description.
