Category/Location: To visit the island of Ilha de Marajo, it is possible to go by small airplane from Belém, but the most common way is by boat from the port in Belém to the island’s village, named Salvaterra. It takes about 3hours by boat or 30min by air. There are no options of accommodations, it exists only one guest house named Pousada dos Guaras. This place is good located, on the beach of Praia Grande, only 3km out of Salvaterra. It is beautifully situated on the beach, considered as a COMFORT hotel and was inaugurated in 1990.

Service/Leisure: During your stay, the hotel use to provide activities according to the program below. But you can also enjoy the hotel’s bar, restaurant, private beach, swimming pool, play ground for children, sports ground, football field, trekking, buffalo rides, and arrange folkloric dances. There is also an infrastructure for events, a convention room for 180 guests with supporting service.

Accommodations:There are a total of 50 guest rooms (bungalows); all equipped with private bathrooms with hot waters, air conditioning, TV, telephone, a mini bar (refrigerator) and verandah.

Recommended 2-nights (day-by-day) program:
Day 1) Starts early in the morning (06:00 am) transfer to the port in Belem. The boat (ferry) is a regular (not private) departure and goes to the village of Camará. From there a ground transfer to the guest house “POUSADA DOS GUARÁS”, check-in (approx at 10:00am) and accommodation in rooms according to the description above. After lunch, time for a river tour in small canoes or motorized canoes (according to the number of people), were we make a visit to “Joanes” (historical place where Marajó Island was founded) then back to the main village, SALVATERRA and overnight at Pousada dos Guaras.

Day 2) After breakfast we will visit the village of Soure, full day tour including visit to the tannery, water buffalo ride at the Marajoara farm (for riding buffalos) and visit to the ARARUNA beach, which is a wonderful place for swimming and sunbathing. Then return to the Pousada. At night it is time to experience a folkloric dance show performed by the local people at the hotel’s restaurant.

Day 3) This day is set for free activities, leisure at the hotel or maybe a walk in the surrounding jungle / rain forest. The hotel is situated in a natural reserve. In the afternoon return (depart 15:00) by boat to Belem City and arrive approx at 18:00. NOTE: During your stay, includes mentioned activities and full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner) except beverages are not included. First and last included meals are lunch.
