What is "CVC" = Card Validation Code?

For security reasons the last three digits (American Express 4 digits) on the back of your credit card, needs to be provided during purchases through the Internet. VISA's digit terminology is CVV2 while MasterCard's is CVC2. It is also commonly called Card Verification Code. The code is sent to the card issuer for verification and control.

Where is the "CVC" code located?
You will find the code on Visa, MasterCard and EuroCard on the back of the card in the signature field, immediately following the credit card account number. For American Express cards the four digit code is located on the front of the card. See below for details.
