by boat on the Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro.
On 1st January, 1502, a Portuguese squad, commanded
by Gonçalves, discovered the Guanabara Bay
and, judging to be a great river, and as it was in
January, he gave the place the name of Rio de Janeiro
(The River of January). Guanabara Bay is the largest
bay in the world based on volume of water; it has
several islands such as the Governor's Island, Fundão
and Snakes Island. In the west, you will see Rio de
Janeiro, and facing east - the municipal district
of Niteroi. The view of the city will be developed
by the time you leave the "Marina da Gloria"
by schooner (boat), viewing the neighborhoods of Botafogo,
Flamengo, Urca, Sugar Loaf, Fort São Joao,
Flagstone Island, Santa Cruz Fortress, Rio-Niteroi
Bridge and more.
Departures:
The Guanabara Bay Tour departs DAILY, except on Mondays
and takes approx 3-hours. The passengers will be picked-up
from their hotel in the morning, between 08:00am and
09:00am, depending on the hotel location. Exact pick-up
time will be advised upon reconfirmation. The tour
departs normally from your hotel in Rio de Janeiro,
but the pick-ups are also available from the Cruise
Ship Port.
