This
tour goes to the town of Petropolis
which is located 60 km away from Rio de Janeiro city
and it has been called as the Imperial City since
the time of the Emperor Pedro II. The town is settled
by the Germans and keeps the memory of the Brazilian
history with its buildings and charming streets. Upon
arrival, the tour starts with a visit to the Imperial
Museum, which has been the summer residence of the
Emperor D. Pedro II and here you can see furniture
and objects such as the crown of gold, pearls and
diamonds used by D. Pedro I and D. Pedro II. Then
the tour will continue to the Gothic Cathedral where
Princess Isabel was buried along with the tombstones
of D. Pedro II and his wife. From there you will see
the Crystal Palace, built in France and mounted in
Brazil, destined to shelter exhibitions and great
parties promoted by Princess Isabel.
Departures:
The Petropolis Tour departs ONLY
on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and takes approx
8-hours. The passengers will be picked-up from their
hotel in the morning, between 10:00am and 11:00am,
depending on the hotel location. Exact pick-up time
will be advised upon reconfirmation. The tour departs
normally from your hotel in Rio de Janeiro, but the
pick-ups are also available from the Cruise Ship Port.
