The
Caiman Ecological Refuge is located about 250km from
Campo Grande airport and was inaugurated in 1988.
The hotel has four lodges with different architecture,
named; Sede I, Sede II, Baiazinha and Cordilheira.
Sede I, is always open, but the other lodges are also
open considering the hotel’s occupation, high
season, etc. All the lodges have independent infrastructures
for meals, tours and guides. During your stay, full
board (breakfast, lunch and dinner), is included.
Also some basic tours/activities are included: Ecological
trekking, Horse back riding, bicycling, canoeing,
photo safari, and alligator spotting. The tours are
monitored by bilingual guides.
The rooms at each lodge are equipped with air conditioning,
ceiling fan and private bathroom with hot water. The
lodges have also 110 volts electric outlets, TV/living
room and swimming pool. Each lodge has following
capacity: SEDE I - 11 rooms
(08 DBL + 03 TPL) - 25 people; BAIAZINHA
- 06 rooms (02 DBL + 04 TPL) - 16 people; CORDILHEIRA
- 06 rooms (02 DBL + 04 TPL) - 16 people; SEDE
II - 06 rooms (04 DBL + 02 TPL) - 14 people.

POUSADA
SEDE I - The main building of Refúgio Ecológico Caiman.
The main lodge and the former residence of the Caiman
Ranch is built in a Spanish style. The pousada has
11 apartments with private baths with warm water and
air-conditioning. There are also one central living
room with TV and Video, swimming pool, and a restaurant
which offers traditional home-made food. This lodge
is always open, meanwhile the other 3 pousadas may
be closed, depending on the number of guests.

POUSADA
BAIAZINHA
Raised on wooden stilts and resembling a bird with
outstretched wings. The pousada is located 9 km from
the main lodge and stands at the edge of a small cove
of permanent wetland, facing a tree-covered islet.
The serves as a dormitory for Wood Storks, Roseate
Spoonbills, Egrets, Cormorants, Ibises and many other
birds. This rustic styled lodge houses 6 apartments
with private baths with warm water, air-conditioning
and terraces. There are also one ample central living
room with a large porch, home styled restaurant, observation
tower and swimming pool.

POUSADA
CORDILHEIRA
Constructed of bricks and raised on wooden stilts,
the Cordilheira lodge - situated on the edge of a
seasonal wetland, 13 km from the main lodge - boasts
a special castle-like observation tower which provides
a more extensive view of the surrounding ridges. Inside
are 6 apartments with private baths with warm water,
air-conditioning and terraces. There are also an ample
rustic central living room, home styled restaurant
and pool.

POUSADA
SEDE II
The Sede II lodge has 6 apartments with private baths
with warm water and air-conditioning. There are also
a spacious central living room, a pool, a dining room
and a small home styled restaurant. The interior was
totally redecorated in the style of the region's native
residents the Kadiweu Indians reproducing their art
and designs throughout the building. A nearby grove
of palm trees shelters numerous pairs of the increasingly
rare Hyacinth Macaw. It is located 1 km from the main
lodge and has a dependency from there concerning catering
of meals, local trips, and guides/stuff. |
